Life lessons are learned from life experiences!

I Originally wanted to start this article comparing the new movie “Melania” to the Michele Obama documentary “Becoming”. Before writing I thought it would be unfair to Mrs.Obama to put these to women in the same category when all they have in common is being female and a First Lady. So as I change directions I just want to state this article will be comparing what some African American people have to achieve to be seen as equally human or qualified as others. I remember Chris rock saying only 3 Black people lived in his neighborhood. Eddie Murphy, Mary J. Blige, and himself. Chris Rock explained how this was a multi-million dollar neighborhood that was also gated. One day he was speaking with his neighbor and he asked what was his occupation. The neighbor stated that he was a dentist. Chris Rock quickly realized that as a person of color you have to be the best of the best to live in a neighborhood like this. via the examples of Eddie Murphy and Mary J. Blige, being top artist in their respective art forms. I try to look a bit deeper than the surface details. I looked towards the opportunities that are presented to affluent neighborhoods compared to lower income neighborhoods. The generational wealth that’s passed down to creat a “Head start”. Societally Children of color are overlooked for certain opportunities and scholarships to help the forward their life. Even though there is no excuse for succumbing to social pressures of doing things that are easy but will get you in trouble. With the same breath we can’t deny the neighborhoods some of the children grow up in does not promote growth. That brings me to the point of Michelle Obama is one of the most educated, beautiful, down to earth conscious, socially aware 1st ladies ever. Princeton grad, Harvard law grad and held leadership positions at University of Chicago. I just stated those facts because Mrs. Obama name seems to keep coming up when talks of Melania comes up. There is no comparison at all these women are very different for very different reasons. I hope this example can bring to light the thought pattern of we have to be the best, we can except nothing less than for ourselves for our families for our future. As you can see up to this point American has not changed and probably wont change in my lifetime. If we don’t prepare our children for the ups and the downs of life then what are we doing. We have to except the failures in life to expect the successes. If we all can agree just to not hate… that’s it just accept people for who they are, and move on…..
